The Early Learning Center hosted its first evening event on Tuesday, November 19th, celebrating the diversity of the community with a sampling of breads from around the world. Over 100 guests participated in this joyous celebration of families, friends, and breads, sharing stories ranging from the process of rolling dough and forming the shape with a cookie cutter to make a perfect circle, to the baker who baked their family recipe for the very first time just for this event, it was an evening that will hold memories that will last for a lifetime!
Did you know that Palestine is known for its quality olives and olive oil? The Nassan Family brought back fresh olives from their very own olive tree in Palestine just a few days ago, which they paired with warm pita bread. What a treat!
Maggie Omeicinski, mother of an ELC preschool student, commented “This was the purest example of families and school coming together to be unified! It was a beautiful event and we are lucky to be a part of D123 ELC!”
Students were offered the opportunity to engage in multicultural books about bread, roll their own playdough cookies, decorate flags and build towers out of pizza boxes! Children of all ages were eager to have their passports stamped with each new bread they sampled. When interview, one student exclaimed she received,
"Like a lotta circle stamps, probably fifty-nine, but this one has an airplane."
What an honor to be a part of something so amazing and meaningful to so many families in such a wide variety of ways!
