STEM Technicians at Summer School

STEM Technicians

Summer may be the time to cut down on the screen time but for these technicians, it’s time to kick it up a notch. Most recently, the students in the STEM Technicians summer school class block coded Ozobots, taking them on a path from home to school and anywhere in between.

“We are programming the bot to read our maps so they can go to the places we tell them to. It’s a lot of fun to program the Ozobot and see how it works,” said Izzie, a student in the class.

The STEM Technicians class goes over the basics of coding using different tech devices. Using the new knowledge students will participate in weekly challenges.

“I really like STEM and I am going into 4th Grade next year so I really hope I get Mrs. Monroy and then hopefully I can be a part of STEM Club,” said Alexis, another student.

Ozobot is a little toy robot that blends the physical and digital worlds — and teaches kids programming. The bot can identify lines, colors, and codes on both digital surfaces, such as an iPad, and physical surfaces, such as paper. The class will do a showcase for parents on the final day of class.
