District 123 Welcomes New Associate Principal to Hannum Elementary

Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 is excited to welcome Meagan Franko to Hannum Elementary as the new Associate Principal for the 2025-26 school year. Meagan Franko will be available for a meet and greet with families during Hannum’s Popsicles with the Principals event on May 22.

Read Meagan Franko's biography below.

My name is Meagan Franko and I’m both grateful and excited to introduce myself as the new Associate Principal at Hannum Elementary.  As a community member of Oak Lawn throughout my childhood and still today, it’s a dream come true to be able to serve the community in which I live.  I’ve spent many weekends watching my daughter play softball on the fields next to Hannum, and various other Oak Lawn fields. You can also find me taking my son for a walk through the green strip, at the Oak Lawn Children’s Museum, or catching a band at “Fall on the Green” every summer.  Oak Lawn has always been home to me, and so my investment in the students, families, and staff of Hannum will be unwavering.

With thirteen years of experience in education, I have had the privilege of serving in various roles, including classroom teacher, English Language Specialist, PBIS Coordinator, District English Language Coordinator, and Assistant Principal where I developed a deep understanding of the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. My approach is grounded in building strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families. I believe that positive relationships are the foundation for a thriving school culture, and I am dedicated to being a positive addition to the Hannum environment where everyone feels valued and heard.

I also have a strong passion for bringing cultural awareness and appreciation to the school community. By fostering an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated, we can ensure that every student and their family sees themselves reflected in our community and is empowered to contribute their unique perspectives. I am committed to helping to continue to build a school culture that honors and respects the diverse backgrounds of all our students and families.

I am so excited to get to know each of you—students, parents, and staff—and to work together to continue making Hannum one of the best in Oak Lawn! I look forward to a fantastic school year ahead!
