District 123 Board of Education Approves Director of Special Education for 2025-26 School Year

Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 is excited to announce that Leigh Coradetti will serve as the Director of Special Education starting in the 2025-2026 school year. She has already made an impact in D123 in her Special Education Supervisor position and will continue to ensure the delivery of high-quality educational services across the district.

Leigh Coradetti is an accomplished professional with 22 years of experience in meeting individual student needs, developing strong family partnerships, and facilitating collaboration among educators to support student success. With a deep commitment to special education, instructional leadership, and program development, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role as Director of Special Education for the 2025-2026 school year. Her dedication to fostering student success, strengthening family partnerships, and enhancing educational services makes her an invaluable addition to the school’s leadership team.

Coradetti began her career as a special education teacher at Kankakee High School in Kankakee, IL, where she spent over a decade developing and implementing student-centered instructional strategies to support diverse learners. In addition to her role as an educator, she served as the school’s Graduation Coordinator for 13 years. Under her leadership, the graduation ceremony was transformed into a highly respected and meaningful event that celebrated student achievement and the school community.

Her leadership journey continued as she transitioned into administrative roles, first as a Special Education Coordinator and later as a Special Education Supervisor. In July 2023, she joined Oak Lawn-Hometown District 123 as a Program Supervisor, overseeing middle school special education programs and managing out-of-district placements. These roles allowed her to refine her expertise in program oversight, staff development, and student advocacy.

Coradetti holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (2003), a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction (2007), and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership (2024). She also earned her Director of Special Education endorsement in 2024, further solidifying her expertise in overseeing specialized services that meet the diverse needs of students.

As Director of Special Education, Coradetti will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational services across the district, fostering strong collaboration between educators, families, and administrators, and advocating for policies that promote student success. Her extensive experience and proven leadership will be invaluable as she works to enhance special education programs and student outcomes.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Coradetti is a dedicated wife and mother to three children.
