Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Launches Strategic Planning for the 2024-25 School Year

Celebrating its 123rd year, Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 will be launching a comprehensive strategic planning process. This milestone year, paralleling our district's assigned number, marks an important moment to redefine our educational future, maintain focus on the academic growth of 100% of our students, and affirm our commitment to excellence in education.

District 123's new strategic planning process aims to further enhance the quality of our children's education by:

  • Setting clear community-driven objectives
  • Improving educational outcomes
  • Increasing overall community engagement
  • Optimizing resource allocation
  • Ensuring long-term sustainability

This strategic planning endeavor is not just about setting goals, it's about building a future together.

"District 123's new strategic planning process is a pivotal step in advancing the quality of education and enhancing community involvement. As we chart this path, we will consider the diverse perspectives within our community, integrating them into the broader vision and aspirations we hold for our learning environment. This endeavor goes beyond mere goal-setting; it is about crafting a future that reflects our collective aspirations and ensures sustained educational excellence," stated Brian Nichols, President of the Board of Education.

District 123 encourages all stakeholders—parents, teachers, administrators, staff, students, and community residents—to actively participate. Diverse insights, ideas, and aspirations are not only welcome but essential to crafting a shared vision that truly reflects our community's needs and goals.

"The effective education of students requires the whole community's commitment," said Dr. Paul Enderle, Superintendent of District 123. "We are committed to a strategic planning process that not only sets direction but does so through a collective, inclusive approach that values every voice."

As part of the commitment to excellence and comprehensive planning, Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 is proud to partner with Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA), a nationally recognized firm specializing in educational strategic planning. This collaboration will leverage HYA's extensive experience in helping schools and districts formulate strategic goals that are both visionary and achievable. Together with HYA, the district aims to create a strategic plan that is innovative, forward-thinking, and aligns with the unique needs and aspirations of the community.

District 123 is actively organizing a series of 18 focus groups to engage our community in shaping the future of our schools. We invite you to make your voice heard by signing up to express your interest in participating.
