Escape rooms have been popping up all over town, and now there is one at District 123 Summer School. Ms. Onik structured the class to function as the popular escape rooms, participants find clues, solve puzzles and complete the challenge by escaping from the room.
“We had one that was completely math based and students had to work together and solve the problems to get the clues. Today the escape room centers around positive thinking. Each day the students are not only learning those core subjects that they would in a normal classroom setting but those vital collaborative and teamwork skills that they need in everyday life,” said Onik.
Third through fifth-grade students make up the Escape Room class.
