On Saturday, January 18, 2020, 75 Special Olympics athletes and their coaches will compete in the 10th annual Oak Lawn Park District Special Recreation 10th Annual Basketball Day. All-District 123 Families are encouraged to attend and “Pack the House,” for local Special Olympic athletes ranging in age from 10 all the way through adulthood.
“This is truly an inspiring event that if given the opportunity, all members of our community should attend. These athletes deserve a packed house, no different than the packed house you might find at any one of our high schools during a Friday night basketball game,” said Cynthia Riha, District 123 Director of Special Education.
The doors for the event will open at 12 pm on January 18, admission is free, and opening ceremonies will begin at 12:30 pm. Make sure that you show your #D123 pride by wearing your school colors and signing in at the check-in table on the day of the event.
