In a vibrant celebration of creativity and talent, the annual Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Art Extravaganza transformed the Middle School gymnasium and media center into a mesmerizing art museum on Thursday, April 24. The event showcased an array of artworks from each elementary school and masterpieces crafted by middle school students throughout the year.
Families and friends walked around in amazement as students pointed to their art, which took time, patience, and hard work to accomplish the desired result. Some pieces featured bright colors while others used careful black and white shading for depth and detail. Students worked with a variety of materials such as colored pencils, crayons, water colors, and wax crayons to create a piece of art unique to them.
The displays put together by the dedicated D123 art educators highlighted the diversity and creativity of young artists. For many students, seeing their artwork showcased in a professional setting sparked a sense of accomplishment and pride as they smiled in front of their piece with a smile.
This annual tradition not only highlights District 123’s commitment to nurturing creativity but also fosters a deep appreciation for the arts within the community. With each passing year, the Art Extravaganza continues to inspire and unite families from the elementary schools and the middle school, all in one place to celebrate each student's achievement.
