D123 Celebrates Kindness Week and Milestone School Days with Fun and Spirit!

The past two weeks have been filled with excitement and celebration in Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123!

From February 10 to February 14, students and staff took part in Kindness Week, dressing up for fun daily themes like Sparkle Day, Hats Off to Kindness, and School Spirit Day. Beyond the outfits, students spread positivity by sharing kindness confetti and participating in activities promoting friendship.

This PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports) initiative brought the entire learning community together, encouraging students of all grade levels to support one another. To wrap up the week, many classrooms hosted Friendship Parties, where older students served as role models for younger ones, and some families joined in for creative, friendship-themed projects.

The celebrations didn’t stop there! District 123 also marked the 100th and 101st days of school in style earlier this month. Students and staff dressed as centenarians and 101 Dalmatians, adding a playful twist to the milestone. Classrooms were filled with engaging activities centered around the numbers 100 and 101, giving students a chance to reflect on their progress and feel inspired to keep learning and growing throughout the rest of the school year.

It’s been a fantastic few weeks of fun, learning, and school spirit in D123!
