Learning doesn’t stop in the summer at Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123. In its 13th year, the comprehensive program welcomed over 600 students from PreK to 8th grade, and offered a wide range of educational and enrichment classes.
The District 123 Summer School Program, held from June 17th to June 27th and July 8th to 18th, provided an exceptional opportunity for students to further their knowledge and explore new areas of interest. With a mix of STEAM, Academics, and Athletics courses, the program catered to diverse interests and age groups.
The program showcased an assortment of appealing courses designed to ignite students' passion for various subjects. The "Launch" program offered literacy, math, science, and social studies classes, exposing students to the skills and standards of their next grade level. Meanwhile, the "Discovery" program focused on art, sports, and technology, allowing students to explore their creative and physical abilities.
“Our summer programs have been a resounding success, thanks to the dedication of our teachers and the enthusiasm of our students,” Summer Program Principal Sarah McIntyre said. “We're proud of how these programs have enriched the summer break with valuable learning experiences and engaging activities. The Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Summer School Program was open to public, private, and parochial school students, underscoring its commitment to providing educational opportunities for all. With another successful year under its belt, District 123 continues to enrich the lives of its students and foster a love for learning within the community.
