The Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Educational Foundation hosted its 6th Taco and Trivia Night to raise funds for educational programs for the district. Teams ready to test their knowledge filled the room at St. Nicholas Church for six rounds of riveting trivia. Participants also received gift certificates from Jalisco Express.
Through generous donations from local businesses and schools, there were more silent auction items this year than ever, and attendees had a chance to win raffle prizes filled with desired items.
“Over the years, we have brought in almost $100,000 for the Ed Foundation to use in mini-grants for teachers and other special projects in D123,” Kelli Mason of the Ed Foundation said. “It’s an amazing outpouring of support for public schools and the children who will be our future leaders in Oak Lawn and Hometown.”
The Ed Foundation works with the school district's long-term goals and the broader Oak Lawn-Hometown community to acquire and distribute financial and other resources to extend and enhance learning opportunities for all district stakeholders. The D123 Ed Foundation will use the funds raised from the event to encourage excellence and innovation among District 123 employees, enhance student learning opportunities, and develop and strengthen District 123 school/community relationships with parents, staff, alumni, staff alumni and other business, governmental, and individual community members.
By hosting such community-centered events, the foundation raises funds and increases awareness about the district's various educational initiatives. The success of this event and other foundation events like the annual golf outing, signals the community's unwavering commitment to education, promising an exciting future for all of the district's educational endeavors.
