Summer EL Class

This summer nearly 70 District 123 students were invited to participate in the English Language Learner program at the D123 Summer School. The goal of the program is to seamlessly continue learning to avoid the summer slide. This year the program included classes for students who will be entering grades 1 through 4.

“The EL Summer School program is beneficial because it helps to reduce the amount of learning loss over the summer for our English learners and gives them an added academic boost to help get them prepared for the upcoming school year,” said Angela Goetz the District 123 EL Director.

Each student participated in a math and an ELA class. The math classes used a game-based curriculum to reinforce math concepts learned during the school year. ELA classes had a focus on guided reading and writing.
