Sward first graders officially completed their "medical boards," a.k.a. their CKLA Human Body unit and began their residency today and made their rounds at Abbott Community Hospital, Garcia General Hospital and McCorry Memorial Hospital. Our new Pediatricians got their white coats complete with their surgical gloves, hair nets and stethoscope to prepare for their residency. Students participated in a variety of activities including: playing "Operation", treating sick/wounded stuffed animals, keeping up with medical research by reading books, taking x-rays, exploring the digestive system and even human body BINGO. When Mrs. Amra asked a student to explain the digestive system, first grader Dean said "first the food goes into the mouth and moves down the throat past the esophagus, then into the stomach, then down into the small intestines, and finally into the large intestines and exits the body as waste." Attending physicians, Dr. Abbott, Dr. Garcia and Dr. McCorry trained our little Pediatricians very well and they are very knowledgeable about the human body!
