Be a Buddy, Not a Bully!

Bully Free

Sward celebrated Unity Week from October 15-17 with a series of activities that brought our Eagles together to promote kindness and a bully-free environment. We kicked off the week with a blue and white spirit day, showing our school pride. On Wednesday, we wore orange to demonstrate our commitment to ensuring that bullying has no place in childhood. Thursday was all about TEAM KIND spirit, with everyone sporting their favorite team shirts to show unity and support for the cause.

Throughout the day on Wednesday, students also had the opportunity to collaborate with another class on a special craft, engaging in discussions about the importance of being bully-free. Being a buddy instead of a bully means choosing kindness, respect, and empathy in how we treat others. A buddy supports their peers, makes sure no one feels left out, and embraces differences, helping to create a positive and inclusive environment. In contrast, bullying causes harm through hurtful words or actions, creating negativity and isolation. By being a buddy, students stand up against bullying, set an example for others, and help build a community where everyone can feel safe, valued, and connected.
