During the month of February, Sward students participated in the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge. Sward's PE teachers Ms. Schiestel and Mr. Fahey held a kick off assembly to introduce to the students the importance of learning about heart health. This is a fun way for families to help raise funds for a good cause while discovering about body wellness, mental well-being and CPR skills. According to the AHA website, "The Kids Heart Challenge prepares kids for success by supporting their physical and mental well-being."
Students at Sward School have been participants in this annual fundraising effort since 2004. This year, Sward students raised over $22,300. The top 10 fundaisers in K-2 and 3-5 earned Pizza with the PE Teachers! Check out a few of the top fundraisers below....AMAZING WORK! Fourth graders, Everly and Nayeli said that their favorite activity to work on during PE was the jump ropes and trampolines. We are so proud of the support Sward students and their families gave this year to the American Heart Associate's Kids Heart Challenge.
