Sward's Student Council organized a collection of soup and other non-perishable food items to support D123’s Family + Community Resource Network (FCRN). With a food item donation, students received a special green eagle feather and a chance to vote for the winner of Super Bowl LVII. Sward’s mascot is an eagle just like the Philadelphia Eagles and many students were excited to vote for the team “ just like ours.”
Mrs. Coennen shared, “These students contributed to an important cause and had the opportunity to cheer for their favorite football team. It's a win for everyone. I am so proud of how much food we donated to FCRN.”
As a culminating event, Sward students and staff were invited to participate in a football Sward spirit day. Chicago Bears and Sward spirit gear were popular attire of most students, however a few Kansas City and Philadelphia jerseys were spotted in the halls. Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on their victory, the students who predicted the winner were awarded a football pencil. “The Soup-er Bowl food drive was super successful, thank you students and staff for your generous donations.” said Mrs. Katalinic
