In partnership with the Oak Lawn Public Library, Mrs. Kramer provided Sward students with a calendar of summer literacy activities. These students were awarded the opportunity to use the newly installed book vending machine.
After using the machine Ivy, a Kindergartner, "Wow this is not one thumbs up, but two thumbs up. It is awesome.”
“Thank you to our wonderful Sward PTA and the D123 Ed Foundation for supporting this student centered initiative. I was super excited to watch the students see me fill up the vending machine with books and turn on the lights.” Mrs. Kramer
Lucas asked, “Do I get to keep this book?” He was super excited to hear it is different from the library. Yes, indeed he can keep the book.
Marni “ I like Fancy Nancy because of her dresses and her style. She teaches me new words."
Nate, “This is more than worth completing the summer activities. I didn't realize there was a reward.”
Penny was all smiles to see her brother get a token too, “ I love this book and I always read like my brother.”
Rahma, a 5th grader, chose the book Gabby Garcia. This book is signed by a very special author, a former Sward student Iva- Maria Palmer. Happy Reading!
Who will be the next students to receive a token for the book vending machine?
Mrs. Kramer, “ I am searching for students who soar above and beyond Eagle Expectations to award the next golden tokens.”
