The District 123 Education Foundation has dubbed this year as “The year of the Marigold”. Marigolds are those teachers or staff throughout the district that encourage others to grow and learn beside them. The idea came from Jennifer Gonzalez’s blog, The Cult of Pedagogy.
“Marigolds exist in our schools as well—encouraging, supporting and nurturing growing teachers on their way to maturity. If you can find at least one marigold in your school and stay close to them, you will grow. Find more than one and you will positively thrive.”
During the recent late start, each school voted on who was their marigold. The marigold from each school was celebrated and received a $200 Amazon gift card courtesy of the Ed Foundation. Congratulations to the first trimester Marigolds.
