Helping Those That Help Our Community

Help Our Community

While many of the Oak Lawn-Hometown District 123 staff are working from home, members of the D123 Arbor Staff have been on the front lines providing meals for children in the community.

Since the pandemic started, the D123 Arbor Staff have prepared and served nearly 40,000 “Grab and Go” lunches for children in the Oak Lawn-Hometown community.

Keith Ogean, a 7th Grade Teacher at OLHMS organized a Go Fund Me page to raise money to buy lunch for the Arbor Staff for the remainder of the school year.

“It is a struggle when doing your part means sitting on the sidelines while others are out there every day making sure our community has what it needs to be safe and secure. This is the smallest way to show appreciation for all those who so often go unnoticed,” said Ogean.

The goal is to raise $2000, the approximate cost for treating the Arbor Staff to lunch for the rest of the school year.  If you’d like to donate click the button below:

District 123 staff and PTA’s organized also organized a “Thank You” parade this week. The drive-thru occasion was a chance for the community to decorate their vehicle, roll down the windows, honk horns, and thank the Arbor Staff for their hard work.

“I think that Arbor has been serving our community every weekday with meals and it’s great for their morale to see how much they are appreciated during these uncertain times. These ladies are amazing and they are working hard to serve our community and they deserve to see our love with some delicious food and kind words from their community,” said Karen O’Dea, a D123 Parent.
