September 4, 2020 – The following is a letter that was sent from Superintendent Paul Enderle to the District 123 community regarding the Return to School 10 Day Community Survey.
Dear District 123 Families and Staff:
On July 21, 2020, Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 released its Together Again – Return to School Plan to our community. This plan was created together with guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and communicated broadly to the entire District 123 school community. The plan offered the students, staff, and families of District 123 the safest and most effective in-person re-entry to the 2020-2021 school year and has incorporated the entire community’s voice as a foundational element. Since presenting this plan to the community in July, our administrative team and staff have worked to implement this plan with fidelity remaining focused on the following commitments to our learning community:
- The safety and wellbeing of all students, staff, and families;
- A high quality and equitable educational experience;
- The maintenance of established calendars and schedules;
- Ongoing community input and feedback;
- Frequent communication and updates.
Utilizing federal, state, and local guidance, we will continue our work and encourage our students, families, staff and community members to be a part of this plan by sharing feedback and input with our School District. We have successfully completed 10-days of school and would invite you to please take a few moments to share your thoughts about our Return to School implementation by taking this survey.
By capturing community voice at the onset of the school year, it will help our school system continue to reassess our situation on a regular basis and use this feedback as a means to foster continuous improvement.
