We came together as one and won...THANK YOU! Sward School hosted their 1st Annual Glow Run where their gym was transformed into a glow in the dark race course that motivated students to run and have fun! District 123 has a physical education class built into the daily schedule where students are engaged in various physical activities to keep them happy and healthy everyday throughout the week. Sward School and the PTA have partnered to level up a physical fitness special event that motivates students, invites parents into a P.E class, and is community focused through important messaging about staying healthy. The PTA sponsored the Glow Run and students asked family and friends to sponsor them in a 35 lap run where they came together as one community to fundraise $16,700. The energy and messaging around the Glow Run was electrifying; students were excited to earn prizes that included open gym time, “P.E. Teacher for the Day,” and activities with Mrs. Amra such as “Gaga Ball with the Principal” and “Picnic with the Principal.” The prize that highly motivated Sward Eagles is the culminating event where the highest earning grade level gets to “Slime the Principal” in an all school assembly. The most valuable lesson throughout this successful event was that students learned first hand that no goal is ever too big, we can accomplish anything we put our minds to!
