On Friday, March 21st, OLHMS was transformed into a vibrant tapestry of cultures as students and staff came together for this year’s International Fest, spearheaded by Ms. Yusra Maan. The event marked a week of spirited celebrations, culminating in a day filled with learning, performances, and the joy of embracing diversity.
The festivities kicked off with a spectacular Flag Ceremony, where students proudly carried the flags of various nations, symbolizing the rich cultural backgrounds represented within our school. Throughout the day, classrooms buzzed with excitement as students participated in the Create a Country project, presented their cultural research, and engaged in discussions about global traditions. A highlight of the event was the cultural dance performances, where students showcased traditional choreography from different regions, sharing the beauty of movement and music with their peers.
With nearly 100 students involved in planning, presenting, and performing, the 2025 International Fest truly highlighted the power of student leadership. Whether through teaching their classmates about different countries, creating interactive presentations, or expressing themselves through dance, these students embodied the spirit of inclusivity and pride in their heritage.
Ms. Maan expressed her pride in the students’ dedication, noting, "Now more than ever, our students understand the power of sharing their identities and celebrating differences. Being proud of who we are and truly embracing our diversity surpasses any content."
