Successful Lady Mustang Basketball Season!

Successful Lady Mustang Basketball Season!

The Our Lady Mustangs showcased their incredible talent at the 2024 SWIC Conference Tournament, ultimately finishing as runners-up in the championship games.

In the 6th/7th grade championship matchup against Palos, the Lady Mustangs fought valiantly but came up just short, losing by a single basket. From the opening tip-off, the team played with intensity and determination. Teagan confidently commanded the point, proving to be a scoring powerhouse, while Riley and Sofia dominated the boards with countless rebounds. The game went down to the wire, and although the Mustangs managed to get a final three-point attempt, the shot narrowly missed as the buzzer sounded.

In the 8th grade championship against Evergreen Central, the Lady Mustangs faced a tough battle, ultimately falling by 13 points. The game started strong for OLHMS, who led 8-6 early on. However, Evergreen gained momentum in the third quarter, pulling ahead in a stretch the Mustangs couldn’t recover from. Christina, Evelyn, Reese, and Leah relentlessly attacked the basket whenever they had the ball, while Maddie stood out with her relentless rebounding efforts.

Though both teams fell short of victory this past Saturday, the Lady Mustangs proudly claimed 2nd place in the highly competitive SWIC Conference Tournament!

Coach Carmody and Coach Danos are beyond proud of their players’ hard work, dedication, and resilience throughout the season. They look forward to seeing the bright future the Lady Mustangs have both on and off the court!
