Lady Mustangs Basketball in the Playoffs!

With only one week remaining in our girls’ basketball season, the Lady Mustangs continue to learn, improve, and dominate on the court. Both the 6/7th grade and 8th grade teams have entered the playoffs with impressive records of 10-1. After earning a first-round bye, the 6/7th grade team faced Orland, while the 8th grade team competed against Palos.

Following Saturday's games, Coach Carmody’s 6/7th grade Lady Mustangs now boast an outstanding 11-1 record, and Coach Danos’s 8th grade team matches that achievement with their own 11-1 record. In the 6/7th grade game, Teagan, Riley, and Emily led the offense, combining for a remarkable 25 points, while Sofia dominated the boards, collecting numerous rebounds. The Lady Mustangs secured an impressive 25-6 victory over Orland, solidifying their position at the top of the conference and moving one step closer to the championship game.

For the 8th grade Lady Mustangs, Christina, Maddie, Leah, and Reese shone offensively, contributing over 20 combined points. Meanwhile, Evelyn and Audrey controlled the rebounds, and the entire team played stellar defense. Their 33-11 triumph over Palos places them second in the SWIC conference and brings them one step closer to the tournament finals.

Best of luck to our 6/7th grade team as they take on Jerling this Wednesday at 5:00 PM, and to our 8th grade team as they face Tinley this Thursday at 6:15 PM. Join us at Simmons this week to cheer on our Lady Mustangs in the third round of the SWIC tournament. Let’s show our Mustang pride!
