D123 Art Show at OLHMS!

D123 Art Show at OLHMS!

This Thursday, April 25th, OLHMS will host a special event. The Art Show at Oak Lawn-Hometown School is part of District 123 Art Show, and it is a special event to showcase and celebrate students’ artistic talents. This invitation-only art gallery was sent to students, along with their families, to attend and look around the art exhibit in the OLHMS library. During the school day this Thursday, students will have an opportunity to explore the art exhibit and admire their classmates' artwork.

In Ms. Petraitis’ art class, students had the opportunity to work on and create their artwork on a daily basis. To produce their work, students used various items like pencils, crayons, markers, colored pencils, watercolor paints, craft cord, and construction paper. In addition to these utensils, art concepts and techniques like symmetry, drawing, collage, weaving, mixed media, value scales, and watercolor painting were applied to bring the artwork to life. Sophia F. created a beautiful Kaleido Square, and her artwork was chosen for our art show! When Sophia F., an 8th grade student, was asked what it meant to her that her artwork was chosen for our D123 Art Show, she stated, “It means a lot to me that my artwork was picked because I worked really hard and enjoyed creating my Kaleido Square.”

We cannot wait to see our OLHMS library filled with beautiful art and countless people! Thank you to all of our OLHMS students for creating beautiful art, all of the families for supporting our students, and Ms. Petraitis for putting the art exhibit together.
