In preparation for the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) test, students at Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School (OLHMS) have embarked on a comprehensive journey of preparation, encompassing various strategies to ensure success.
To kickstart their preparation, students engaged with the IAR Readiness Tool, familiarizing themselves with the test's functions and layout. This hands-on approach allowed them to navigate the assessment with confidence and ease when the time came.
Test-taking strategies were also at the forefront of their preparation. Students diligently reviewed techniques for effective time management, question analysis, and elimination of answer choices. Incentivizing preparation, OLHMS implemented a raffle system to reward students for their dedication and effort. Those who demonstrated punctuality, focus, and exemplary effort during practice sessions were entered into the raffle, motivating them to stay committed to their preparation.
A highlight of their preparation journey was an all-school assembly featuring Harper Grace, a renowned motivational speaker and rising country singer. Harper Grace's inspiring message about perseverance, giving one's best, and believing in oneself resonated deeply with the students, further fueling their determination to excel in the upcoming test.
As the day of the IAR test approaches, students at OLHMS stand ready, armed with a comprehensive toolkit of preparation strategies and a resilient mindset.
