Each year, the yearbook club asks students to submit artwork to be featured on that year’s yearbook front and back cover! Members of the yearbook club look at potential designs for the yearbook provided by Balfour, OLHMS’ yearbook provider, and vote on the theme for the year. This year, students chose the theme “helloHELLO” which showcases bright colors, fun graphics, and vibrant, graffiti-style fonts. The yearbook club chose this theme as a “welcome back” from the last few years of COVID. Jakob shared, “The last few years have been really hard. It’s so nice to see everyone’s faces again. It feels like I’m meeting some of my friends and teachers for the first time.”
Many students submitted artwork for the yearbook cover contest. Students are given artistic freedom to interpret the theme and create the front and back cover. This year, 7th grade student Addie Kerfin was the winner of the yearbook cover contest! Addie used paint markers and permanent marks to design the front and back cover. She shared that her inspiration for the yearbook cover was the front of the building. OLHMS welcomes all people and strives to create an inclusive environment with many opportunities. The back cover shows the different ways our staff and scholars say “hello” to each other. A job well done goes to Addie!
