Last Thursday, January 19th, our OLHMS Volleyball program had their first home game of the season. To start their season off, they played their rival team- Simmons Middle School. In the 6/7th grade game, the first set was neck and neck. Simmons started with a four point lead, then the Mustangs rallied back. After the Mustangs got a lead, the Knights stayed with them. By the end of the first set, the Mustangs won in a nail biting 25-22 victory. But in the second match, the Lady Mustangs went to work and creamed Simmons 25-15 to win the match.
In the 8th grade game, our Lady Mustangs started the game with a lot of energy and excitement! The Mustangs demolished the Knights in two sets with final scores of 25-19 and 25-10. Arianna and Sofia had excellent spikes, Lexi had great sets, and Grace had a few aces to clinch the win. This was a memorable game because it was Coach Julie Merkle’s last first game of her career here at OLHMS. Our Lady Mustangs have three road games next week against Palos, Liberty, and Evergreen- good luck, ladies!
