Last Friday, the D123 Retirement Luncheon was held in the newly renovated Media Center at OLHMS! Every year, our wonderful and supportive Ed Foundation sponsors the retirement luncheon to honor our former teachers who have dedicated countless years to the field of education and our school district. Last Friday, we were so thankful to honor over 30 former D123 educators!
Karen O’Dea, member of the Ed Foundation, transformed the OLHMS Media Center into a red carpet event for our D123 retirees. As soon as a retiree walked into the media center, they were welcomed in by an 8th grade Ambassadors and escored inside. Through the shimmering gold doors, there was a blown up Oscar Award for our retired D123 stars, there was a spot with a beautiful backdrop to take pictures, and popcorn containers filled with sweet and salty treats at each chair. Mrs. Barry and the Culinary Club baked and served delicious desserts, like pumpkin cookies, brownies, and more, as well as 8th grade Ambassadors served and waited on our retirees. Thank you to all of the Ed Foundation members who were able to make this beautiful even happen, our Culinary Club, our 8th grade Ambassadors, and most importantly, our former D123 educators who shaped the hearts and minds of endless students in our district.
