The newly renovated OLHMS Media Center is officially open! Staff, students and families were welcomed into the state-of-the-art Media Center on Tuesday, September 20th during Open House by Media Specialist Heather McCarthy! Scholars have also visited the library during their ELA block classes as well as some Global Studies classes. Mrs. McCarthy toured the new space with staff and students showing them the new technology and books.
Jaws dropped as they entered the Media Center doors. The entire space has been completely transformed into a space where creativity can flow! A glass wall conference room allows students to work collaboratively in groups as well as have a quieter place to study and work. The various reading areas with flexible seating allows for scholars to find their most comfortable place to read a book. The MakerSpace has been completely transformed into an area where students are able to fully explore their “make” mindset. The Mustang Studio has also seen some updates with brand new technology for podcasting.
6th grade student, Keyshon, shared that the OLHMS Media Center is “the coolest library I’ve ever been in! I didn’t know we could do all of these cool things!” We are excited for our Mustangs to further explore the Media Center and create more meaningful learning experiences!
