Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School Social Studies teacher Andrew Weber was recently awarded the “Teacher of the Year” award during a ceremony at the Johnson-Phelps VFW Post #5220. The VFW Teacher of the Year award contest recognizes exceptional teachers for their outstanding commitment to teaching Americanism and patriotism to their students.
“I’m thankful to have been nominated and selected for this year’s Johnson-Phelps VFW & Auxiliary’s Teacher of the Year Award given by our local Oak Lawn VFW Post. I know my grandfathers who were both WWII veterans would be proud that I’m able to pass on the American Values that our veterans have fought for, and continue to fight hard to protect. I’m grateful to serve our Oak Lawn community and truly honored for this recognition,” said Weber about the honor.
