Each month, one of the most exciting moments at Kolmar is when Mr. Creech comes on the announcements to announce the student of the month! Classrooms grow silent as the anticipation grows and cheers are heard throughout the building when each students’ name is read. So what qualifies a student to be the student of the month? The first thing that teachers take into consideration when choosing the student of the month is if the student is following the 3 Bs: be respectful, be responsible, be safe, and ofcourse the unofficial 4th B, be kind. The teachers also look for who has been working hard. Who was given a piece of advice or a goal and is working hard to achieve it or make a change? Who goes out of their way for others? Who is always maintaining a positive attitude? All of these things go into the decision a teacher makes when choosing a student of the month. It is not about who has the highest test scores or who gets the most right on their homework, though those things are great too! One awesome thing about the students of the month is seeing how proud students are of each other. It encourages them to continue to work hard and to be kind. The students will tell you that the best part of being student of the month is the popsicle treat they receive at lunch! We are proud of all our students who have been chosen so far and can’t wait to see who will be next!
