Two years ago, when there was still so much unknown about covid, students were not allowed to pass out valentines. Through this somewhat sad event, a great tradition began! Kolmar teachers took to technology to make sure everyone still felt the love on Valentine’s Day, and now it has become a Valentine’s Day tradition in 2nd grade! The 2nd grade students used the program “Jamboard” to deliver their classmates some awesome E-Valentines. There is a slide with each student’s name on it and then all the other students add something nice about that person on their page. Each student writes something about everyone in the class! The students absolutely love it! They come up with such nice things to say about one another. “It’s true that they love to read the nice things others say about them (who wouldn’t!) but it’s wonderful to see how much joy it brings them to say nice things about others.” Miss Fitzgerald observed. Even though now students are allowed to pass out physical valentines, this is something the teachers kept up, and plan to continue. This is a great way to bring an extra smile to the students’ faces and spread some extra love and kindness around the room!
