Second graders “traveled” to nine different countries last week and learned about these country’s celebrations and traditions. They traveled to Israel and learned all about lighting the Menorah for Hanukkah, they surfed with Santa for Christmas in Australia, and learned about the importance of the poinsettia in Mexico. This unit also helped them practice map skills and taught them about the 7 continents and the countries within them! They brought their suitcases and passports along with them, gaining plenty of stamps and stickers to decorate them with! Students loved hearing about how different traditions can be, but how overall they all spread the importance of being kind to one another, which our students practice being each and every day!
