November is Native American History month and as it officially comes to an end, so does the 4th grade Native American history month project. These students have worked so hard and learned so much over the past month. Throughout the month they researched five different Native American tribes: Algonquin, Cheyenne, Cherokee, Navajo, and Iroquois. From there they each chose one tribe to research more in depth, specifically focusing on what life would be like for a kid their age. From there they each wrote three separate journal entries about what their life as a Native American kid would be like. They focused on where they lived, how they helped their tribe, and how they celebrate different occasions. 4th grader Logan H. loved picking his tribal name.
“Choosing the name was interesting to me because a name in a Native American tribe is way different then our names.” he stated.
The teachers did an awesome job of incorporating technology into this project as well. The students had to use their Chromebooks to research their tribe and their journal was all part of a Google Slideshow they put together! These Kolmar students did a terrific job, had so much fun, and learned so much about Native American culture.
