Unity Day at Hometown

Unity Day at Hometown

This week students throughout District 123 celebrated Unity Week.  Hometown students wore their favorite school spirit wear to show that we are one school united against bullying. Staff and students also were seen wearing their best sports attire to show that together we are a great team! Finally we ended the week wearing orange... the official color of Unity Day.

Unity Day was created in 2006 by the PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center to help prevent childhood bullying. Grade levels teamed up together to do activities throughout the week to help create friendships and build relationships with other students.  Students played games, did crafts and read stories  with their buddies about how to be a good friend and how to stand up to bullies.

Unity Week is a way for schools to inspire students to be kind, show acceptance towards others and offer inclusion for all students.
