To celebrate District 123 Kindness Week, students were asked to participate in a very fun spirit week. Students dressed in school spirit wear, wore red and pink for Valentine's Day, and even wore their favorite hat. The best day of the spirit week, however, was Future Friday. Students and faculty were asked to wear their favorite high school or college gear. Some students even dressed as their future career! From a future linebacker to a vet, our halls were BUZZING with excitement as students shared their ideas for the future. One Kindergarten student wore a Harvard t-shirt explaining that he was going to graduate from Harvard one day and become a doctor! District 123 believes that by encouraging kids to think about what career they would like to pursue, it also helps them to reflect on ther own strengths and interests. It helps to raise self-awareness and even self-confidence as they give thought to the skills they have, and also what skills they are good at. Some students dressed as a construction worker while others dressed like an artist. One creative fifth grader dressed as a future writer putting a pencil in her hair! Regardless of what high school, college or careers these students choose, they will defintlely go on to make D123 proud.
