Last Thursday, fourth grade classes went on a field trip to Naper Settlement. With our new TCI social studies curriculum in place, fourth grade students have been learning all about the different regions of the United States. They have also learned and read about their own state, Illinois, and what it was like in past. This past Thursday, students didn't just read about the development of our state, they got to live it! Students took a field trip through time. They began by learning about the Illinois frontier in the 19th century. As the field trip progressed, they saw Illinois grow into an agricultural center in the 20th century and ended the field trip learning about life in Illinois in the 21st century, where people live and work today. It was a wonderful experience for the fourth graders and it really brought their learning alive!
