We learn at a young age that numbers and math are everywhere. Our Hannum kindergarten teachers are working hard with their students to teach all the foundational skills of math from number recognition to counting! Mrs. Diaz has been working with her class on sequencing numbers and counting to ten. This is a vital skill to learn in order to be successful with addition and subtraction. Her students have shown tremendous growth in this skill since the beginning of the year. Mrs. Conner’s class has been working on their 1:1 counting skills. This allows students to count real objects to make an abstract subject like math more concrete. Students are even beginning to master number writing! Future mathematicians and engineers are inside our kindergarten classrooms at Hannum!
