On Wednesday, October 11th, second grade students visited the Oak Lawn Library and the Oak Lawn Police Station. This field trip was in connection with our Social Studies unit on communities. Students learned about the importance of communities and how they allow us to connect with others, share resources, and work togther to solve problems. Students started off their field trip at the Oak Lawn Library where they learned about all their library offers followed by a scavenger hunt that allowed students to discover the kids section of the library and an awesome read aloud. Afterwards, we stopped at the Police Department where one of Oak Lawn's police officers talked about how the police department is a community helper and how they keep our community safe.
