Following a unit on Veteran’s Day students in Miss. Hathaway’s Sward class wanted to do something for our soldiers this holiday season. After brainstorming what could be done for those overseas the class decided to write letters and pass on warm holiday wishes to our troops!
“Students say that through writing these letters it made them feel safe and thankful for the soldiers that risk their lives for our freedom. Students were also thankful for the opportunity to give our veterans a holiday gift and were hopeful that their letters would put a smile on their faces,” said Hathaway about the writing project.
Other classmates joined including Mrs. Collura’s and Ms. Ahmad’s class writing 65 letters to the soldiers! The act of kindness was even on the radio!
“My aunt does traffic for US99 and mentioned they were going to be sending letters overseas for the holidays. I thought this would be a great way to get our letters to the troops and a perfect gift for the holidays,” said Hathaway.
Even though they haven’t heard back from the troops they hope the soldiers were happy to hear from them and are holding out hope they will get a response.
