With one more sleep until the first day of school, more than 300 new sixth grade students filled the halls of Oak Lawn Hometown Middle School to learn the ropes before the first day.
Teachers and staff welcomed the new crew cheering with big foam fingers, starting their middle school careers on a high note.
“As I see you all here on your first day of 6th grade I can’t wait to see what the next three years will hold before we say goodbye on your last day,” said Kristin Simpkins, OLHMS Principal. “I can tell it’s going to be a great year, you all have what it takes to be great Mustangs and we are so excited to have you,” she added.
After the students met their advisory and team teachers it was off to the halls to see where their classrooms will be and learn how to open lockers!
School starts for grades 1-8 on Wednesday, August 23rd.
