While students went back to school last week, last night at Oak Lawn Hometown Middle School it was the parents turn. The middle school held their annual open house for families to get a taste of what a day in the life is like for their student. Each grade level’s team of faculty hosted short informational sessions to educate parents on school communication like Skyward, Remind and Google Classroom to help parents stay up to date on their child’s work. Encore classes met in the gym where families could roam around and get information on what additional classes interest their students.

The night wasn’t just informational for parents, 8th-grade ambassadors manned tables to inform students about different clubs and activities OLHMS offers.

“Once you get to middle school you’ve matured a little bit and you know what you like in general so it’s good to branch out and get involved in some of the activities the school offers,” said Victoria, an 8th Grade Ambassador.

Once families visited multiple booths they could enter a raffle for different prizes OLHMS prizes! Elementary School Open Houses are scheduled for the rest of this week and next, refer to the online calendar to see when the open house is for your school.
