More than 90 musicians from Oak Lawn Hometown Middle School participated in the IGSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest in Steger Illinois. After months of practicing their band and choir pieces participants were able to perform their arrangements for a group of judges.
The hard worked paid off! Of the 62 band students who performed 55 received the high honor of First Division Ratings. A special congratulations to band students who received perfect scores; Jose Del Castillo for his Tuba solo, Daniel McLawhorn with a Bassoon solo, Theresa Tenn for her Flute solo
Theresa Tenn and Cyreesa Arroyo for their Flute duet and the trio of Jose Del Castillo, Hilda Gonzalez, Jonathan Weber for their Euphonium Trio.
Chorus and Chime Ringers had 34 participants this year, with 16 nabbing First Division Ratings! Addie Abrahamsen received a perfect score for her Vocal solo and her Vocal duet with Ellie Postregna.
All students received a medal according to their score, so you may see and hear some of them “jingle” a bit more at their spring concert later this year.
