OLHMS Spring Band Concert

Congratulations to Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School Band award winners and, the 42 graduating 8th graders, for being recognized at the District 123 Annual Band Concert

Daniel McLawhorn and Haley Thompson were awarded the T. Sagan Outstanding Graduate Award which is named in honor of Mr. Tom Sagen, District 123’s former band director for over 35 years.  The student-voted award was for the most outstanding OLHMS band members.  Rachel Rodriguez was awarded the Most Improved Band Student, which was chosen by the band directors.

All five district bands in grades 5-8 performed to a packed house of parents, friends, teachers, and administrators.  The Beginning Band (Grade 5), Intermediate Band (Grade 6), Concert Band (Grades 7-8), Jazz Lab Band (Grades 6-8), and Jazz Ensemble (Grades 7-8) were among the bands that performed.  The Concert Band ended the night with a Salute to STAR WARS, including being conducted by Darth Vader (or Mr. Kehl as he is known throughout the school year), which brought the house down!  D123 Band Directors are Mr. John Kehl and Mrs. Beth Lyons.
