On Saturday December 17 Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School will host their 4th Annual Feed6 Meal Packaging event. Students, families, teachers and staff are invited to come out to the two-hour event, starting at 9:00 a.m. and package fortified meals to be delivered to local food pantries. Students have been working diligently to raise a minimum of $30.00 to help cover the costs of the food, materials, and delivery. Anyone else interested must raise a minimum of $20.00. The event is a chance for the community to come together and give back during this season of giving.

What I love most about the meal packaging event is watching community members from all different backgrounds coming together and working side by side to help others. Last year we had volunteers from age 6 to 86 working to support their community. It truly is a feel good event, said Event Coordinator, Heather McCarthy.

Last year, over 150 volunteers were able to donate more than 17,000 meals for Veterans and local food pantries. If you’d like to make a donation head over to http://www.feed6.org/ohms-donation.html before Monday December 12 at 8:30 a.m.
