For the first time in 20 years, and the first time under the Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle school name, The boys sixth and seventh grade basketball team are Conference Champs!
“The boys had a confidence and a belief that they were going to win every time they stepped onto the court.  We always seemed to find a way no matter what the situation was.  This belief developed over the course of the season and we became a very good basketball team.  Their dedication and hard work paid off.  I feel very fortunate to have coached this group of boys and I am very proud of them and their accomplishments,” said Coach Dave Dare.
The boys played a tough game on Saturday and came back to win after being down by 4 points with only 2:44 left to play.  The score was close, 33-30 with 30 seconds left, but a good defense helped to secure the win.
Some highlights from the boys’ phenomenal season include their 17-2 record, they won 15 games straight meaning they haven’t had an L since January 26! The boys were SWIC Tournament Champions, and North Division Champions during the regular season. Nick Daugherty was recognized as the Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament and as an SWIC All-Conference Player along with his teammates Jaylen Johnson, and Tunde Ogunleye.
