Lunch and Breakfast Program

A lunch and breakfast program is available at all District 123 schools.

Oak Lawn School District 123 has partnered with Arbor Management, Inc. to offer nutritious,
healthy food options to all students. Oak Lawn 123 participates in the USDA sponsored National
School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs, and all meals and snacks served meet or exceed the
standards required by these programs. Arbor is committed to providing a highly customized service specifically designed to meet the needs of the students, parents, and staff of Oak Lawn School District. Take a look at this informational FLYER from Arbor about food services at Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123.

Lunches are planned to provide nourishment and variety. Every meal follows the nutritional guidelines set forth by the National School Lunch Program. Dietary specifications, based on the latest Dietary Guidelines for Americans, set specific calorie ranges, sodium restriction, saturated fat <10% total calories, zero trans fat, and minimum meal components to ensure age-appropriate meals for grades K-5 and 6-8 over the week. Meals include 1-2 ounce equivalents of protein, 1-2 ounce equivalents of whole grains, 3/4 cup vegetables, 1/2 cup fruit, and 8 fl. ounces of milk.

Cost per meal:

  • Student Breakfast $1.40
  • Student Lunches $2.75
  • Student Milk $ .60

Any student that resides in the District’s boundaries is eligible to eat breakfast for free during summer school.  Summer school runs for 16 days during the months of June and July.  Breakfast is served to children from the ages of 3 – 18, accompanied by a parent, from 8:00 – 8:15am at Oak Lawn Hometown Middle School.

Families of students who qualify under federal income guidelines may obtain free or reduced lunches for their children. Families must apply for this program every year. Applications for free and reduced lunch for the 2016-2017 school year will be unavailable until the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) releases the new eligibility criteria.  After July 1, 2016, families wishing to do so will be able to complete the entire application in Skyward Family Access.
