Hannum teachers, Kelly Fitzgibbon, Caitlyn Rutkowski, and Debbie Zweig got quite the surprise this week when the balloon brigade popped into their classrooms. The celebration was to award a mini-grant from the District 123 Ed Foundation to purchase a new Math program that encourages problem-solving in a game setting. The Ed Foundation was able to provide $2,000 from donations through events like Tacos and Trivia, and the annual Golf Outing. You can help make mini-grants happen district-wide by becoming a friend of the foundation today.
The Education Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that was established in 1991 through the good efforts of the School District and dedicated friends in the community. Its purpose is to attract private monies to fund and advance special innovative educational projects/programs that would not normally be supported by tax dollars. A community Board of Trustees governs the Foundation’s activities. Since its inception, over $200,000 has been contributed to the Educational Foundation.
