Students at Hometown Elementary got a first hand account of the important role the police play in our community when Officer Brian Roland came to class. Ms. Shehaiber’s class has been leaning about the importance of communities and how they depend on teamwork between law enforcement, public servants and citizens just like them.
“Students were able to really understand how communities are like a puzzle of different roles and tasks, without one the community would not be complete,” said Ms. Shehaiber.
Officer Roland reinforced the importance of his role in the community, explaining what would happen if all officers decided to take the day off.
The students also learned about the role they play in the community as citizens and how to expand their role as they get older.
